The paper entitled “Assessment of Malinche’s Personality in Laura Esquivel’s Malinche,” aims to study the life of an oppressed woman, La Malinche and projects her dignified life among slave community. Through this novel, Esquivel, the Modern Princess of Mexican Literature, conveys Malinche’s action and enumerates the fact of how she enriches her ability effectively as an interpreter and a writer of Codices within the restricted ambiance. Malinche as an ever-changing palimpsest, serves to broach the issues of feminine and indigenous identity, in which the author wishes to revisit the history. The representation of Malinche in the novel reminds one that the relationships of domination and subordination from one’s historical past echoes even today. By enriching her attitude on self and personality, she confines herself into new site of power and develops her sense on individual agency. Thus Malinche’s instinctual aspect scores the possibility of rescuing the subaltern from the historical obscurity.he paper entitled “Assessment of Malinche’s Personality in Laura Esquivel’s Malinche,” aims to study the life of an oppressed woman, La Malinche and projects her dignified life among slave community.
