Amy Tan has been viewed as one of the famous contemporary female writers in Asian American Literature. This article reflects on the views of the husband-wife relationship in Chinese society. It deals with the paradigm of the husband’s atrocious authority over his wife. The novels deal with the husbands’ aggression against an intimate life partner which results from a traditional society, where women are degraded and given little freedom. Women set out in search of marital bliss; the characters are totally empowered by taking the strong decision of divorce and remarriage. The paper investigates the writings of Amy Tan novels, by way of telling the world, what is more important for a woman in marital life and concludes with the interrogative note, whether it is possible only in the fictional world or have we, as a society, allowed the women to be really empowered in all walks of life?Amy Tan has been viewed as one of the famous contemporary female writers in Asian American Literature.
