Federico Garcia Lorca, one of the most important figures in modern Spanish literature, drew upon the elements of Spanish life and culture to create works which is both traditional and modern, personal and universal. Lorca’s principal themes were death, frustrated sexuality and the relationship between individual & reality. This paper entitled as the “Interpretation of Id and Superego in The House of Bernarda Alba” analyses the character of Adela and Bernarda Alba with reference to Id and Superego of Freud’s theory of psychology. Lorca portrays his characters with reference to specific Spanish social condition. The House of Bernarda Alba is the third of Lorca’s trilogy.
