Discourse analysis is both an old and a new discipline. Its origin can be traced back to the study of language, public speech, and literature more than 2000 years ago. It is a general term for a number of approaches to analyze written, vocal, or sign language or any event. Discourse analysis has been taken up in a variety of discipline in science and humanities including, linguistics, education, sociology, anthropology and cultural studies. It is of many researchers interest to analyse in poems and find the way of understanding the mentioned aspects that brings out the joy of reading along with cultural and traditional aspects and of course the impact on everyday life. Sarojini Naidu was a great woman of the 20th century of India. She was well-known by the sobriquet “The Nightingale of India”. Her contribution was not confined to politics but she was also a renowned poet. The poem “Palanquin bearers” has been analysed at all levels and the joyful moments have been narrated. The analysis includes anagram, objects, figures of speech etc., Thus it is concluded that Language plays a significant role in communication, which is purely a human and non-instinctive method of communication ideas, emotions etc., Imagination and its expression through poems is a good source that connects general people, researchers, linguists and all.iscourse analysis is both an old and a new discipline.
