A New Birth of liberty And so it was. When northern success finally came in April 1865, it was obvious that the president had saved the Union, but not the Union of 1861.However greatly Lincoln stooped to public opinion, he constantly held fast to a core belief that, under the announcement of Independence, all men obsessed equally the immutable rights of life, liberty, and the chase of happiness. Lincoln built his Gettysburg Address on a arrangement of past, present, and future time. He started in the past by insertion the commitment of the battlefield inside the larger story of American history.On single side stood those who read a Bible that they consistently supposed authorized slavery. On the other were those who unspoken it to support the elimination of slavery. Keywords: president, liberty, elimination of slavery, Gettysburg Address etc.
