The purpose of the paper is to enhance the vocabulary learning of the autonomous learners. Vocabulary learning has an important role in any learners’ language acquisition. The learners can communicate effectively with more vocabulary, boosts up their confidence, and results in a good career as English is a global language. It is believed by many learners that vocabulary learning is difficult. A learner might not be able to learn all the words overnight. But if the learners put some efforts like setting goals, aims, adopting strategies in the learning process, they can learn vocabulary. Learners have to take up the responsibility of their own learning without much dependence on the teacher. Such learners are called autonomous learners. Autonomous learning requires the complete involvement of the learners to enhance their vocabulary learning. The paper also discusses about autonomy, learner autonomy, learner training which play a key role in making the learners ‘autonomous’ i.e. encouraging the learners to learn independently. The new role of the teacher, focusing that the teacher doesn’t become passive but becomes a facilitator; cooperating, guiding and helping her/his learners is discussed. Finally, the paper presents few vocabulary tasks which develop the autonomous learners acquire more new words effectively. Key Words: English Language Learning (ELL), Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW), Autonomous Learners, Self-directed learner.
