The Revolution of communication technology at the global level has brought many changes in English Language teaching. Since flexibility , creativity and openness to change have become requirements , provision has to be made to take into consideration the learners’ pace , interest and learning styles. This paper is an attempt to initiate self – directed learning at the undergraduate level by designing a self –accessing Package on Writing skills. The author shall discuss the significance of Self –accessing packages in the effective learning process and the flexibility in learning made possible through different software programming options. The paper includes a sample of self-accessing package on writing skills comprising of tailor made tasks based on needs identified through the questionnaire administered by the students. The writing tasks are need- based revolving around both -Process and Product approaches. The designed tasks cover the three major aspects of writing which include- Mechanics of writing, composing and Organization. Keywords: self –accessing Package, flexibility in learning, syntactical and lexical patterns, monotonous outlandish tasks etc.
