The paper deals with the genre of short story in a comparative mode of analytics by taking up Saadat Hasan Manto and Virginia Woolf who were the exponents of the art of short story writing during their respective times. It analysis the way these two authors took up short story, a minor genre as a tool of their resistance not just against other majorly established forms of literature like Novel, but also against other dominant forms in the society, be it gender, class, caste or religion wherein, the aspect of giving voice to the unrepresented or marginalized sections of the society, becomes crucial as something that which only a genre of short story efficiently allows as against the Novel form Keywords: Short story, Genology, Resistance, Marginalization, Representation, Minority
