This paper is an attempt to trace the journey of African Literature especially the genre of Novel. The African novels are to a large extent the traumatic experiences of the Africans. The world of the colonialism and the disillusionment of the protagonists and the social and economical and political defeat by their own countrymen replacing the role of the ruler are some of the key concerns of these novels. This paper highlights the major Novels in the realm of African Literature. Furthermore an extensive survey has been discussed so as to get a clear understanding of the realistic projection of the contemporary African Social scenariohis paper is an attempt to trace the journey of African Literature especially the genre of Novel. The African novels are to a large extent the traumatic experiences of the Africans.
