Marriage is believed to be a sacred one in the Hindu mythology. In the contemporary Indian society marriage is considered a social contract where a man and a woman are permitted to live together and procreate children to make it a family. Besides that in Indian marriages, monogamy is the popular form of marriage where there is only one man and one wife. And such marriages are vogue in the contemporary society where sincerity, devotion and affection can be seen to a large extent. The couple can even take care of their children properly and can be well attended. In the past, the head of the family arranged marriage for a girl child. Father selected and girl child accepted the match without expressing her thoughts and feelings towards a marriage. But now the social scenario is changing. Girls are also keen about their marriages. They take decisions about their marriages and express views about their life partner. They are taking initiations in breaking the marriages too.
