Performance of employees is an important indicator of success of any organization. In this regard the performance management practice of human resource becomes quite crucial for any organization. Similar to any organization,
universities or higher education institutes also strive for an appropriate system to gauge the potential of its faculty members. Although both teaching and non teaching staff in university plays an important role in escalating institution’s performance, yet faculties are considered to be imperative human resource of universities. Performance evaluation of faculty members is primary area of concern for any University. The current research attempts to identify the most effective criteria in measuring faculty performance in Private universities, besides this the paper also outlines the operational challenges that a university has to face while implementing an ideal performance evaluation exercise.
