The process of inter - culturation between divergent ideals creeps into the Indian soil during the colonial rule The cultural tradition of this vast sub-continent., imbued with many socio-religion, economic and philosophic rays, creates a marvelous spectrum of integration. The impact of the colonial rule is reflected in life, literature and culture. Bhattacharya’s as a social realist has focused much attention on an encounter between two divergent. Cultural values. He illustrates the influence of the western ways of living on the Easterners which is the outcome of the continuation of the alien rule for more than two hundred year in india. The author asserts a positive view that maintaining an equilibrium is the true way of pacifying the inner turmoil. The East – West encounter, thus, symbolizes a balance between body and spirit. .
