The Department of Yoga and Consciousness is set up by Andhra University for undertaking fundamental research on human and extension work for the betterment of human life. The department attempts to bring together the high technology of West and wisdom of the East for a fuller understanding of human nature an understanding that reflects experimental objectivity of science and experiential richness of traditional practices. Initially most of the psychosomatic diseases were managed by simple away of Yoga techniques .Over last twenty years concepts of Yoga were also added into the management of ocular diseases like Glaucoma. Yoga is described by C.E. Patanjali as a way of life, he described the eight life style is called it the Eight limbs of yoga. The limbs are practical guides to a person’s personality development to achieve the harmony of the mind, the body and the spirit. The main purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of yoga postures on yoga sadhakas (yoga practitioner)to evaluate various range of eye pressure during the practice various postures of asanas, normal eye pressure ranges from 10-21mmHg. The sample comprised of 17 male students from Department of Yoga and Consciousness, Andhra University, and their age range from 18 to56 years were selected. The Yoga practitioner undergone various yoga asanas .The Pre and post-test of ocular pressure were taken from both eyes for the assessment of ocular pressure gradient in both the eye. All Inverted asana are causes adverse effects and increases the intraocular pressure of the eyes. Keywords: Yoga, ocular pressure, inverted asana, C.E. Patanjali, Eight limbs etc.
